Okay, I’m ready to let them go. Are you ready to get them? I acquired these back in the early 1980s when I lived in California. I got them used at the time, mounted them once, and rode them just because I had to see what it felt like. They operated like they should and scared the hell out of me. I have stored them and lost them so many times over the last 30 years that I thought I better let someone else have them before I lose them forever. And I imagine, if you lube them, disassemble and clean, and then reassemble, they should look really good, and could probably be put back in service. One truck says patent pending, and the other does not, nor does it have a patent number. No parts are missing as far as I know. No cracks or bends as far as I can tell. I thought that maybe one of the axles was not as straight as the others, but after further inspection I think all is well. All of the axles insert into a collar that are held in place by Allen bolts. You can grab the axles and wiggle them up and down, side to side, and feel a very light play. It might be just the way that everything rests and the way all the pieces marry together. There are a lot of independent working parts that need to be perfect. Remember, these are patent pending, and they were still experimenting at the time. It might look a little funky to the naked eye. But then again my naked eye is probably a quarter bubble out to start with. At least, that’s what I get out of all of my microscopic deliberations. Some of the soft rubber cover sleeves are split. A little surface rust on the springs, but like I said already, a good lube, and maybe a 0000 steel wool oil rub down to the springs might help protect and preserve. I kind of hate to see them go, but I haven’t seen them in so long I guess it’s time for somebody else to look at and enjoy them. They will be insured, and you will need to sign for the package. Again, these are being offered for sale for display only. Best for a personal collection or museum. While they could be mounted and used, (very strongly unrecommended), performance would probably be poor, at best, in present stored condition. Remember, these were experimental, never perfected, and when I rode them they were almost new. They scared the beJesus out of me. And I skated for a living! I de-boarded them and they have never been mounted since. I do not guarantee any performance or functional application with these trucks. You’d better think again. When you receive them, and you decide to work on them, be sure to use some form of penetrating liquid lubricant before using a tool on any of the parts to have success in disassembly and cleaning. A tool has not touched them in over 30 years. Who knows what all those years of sitting has done, even though they have been stored in a climate controlled environment. They will bring your collection the happiness you seek. Your riding, not so much. You will have to look far and wide to find a more iconic 1970s skateboard. Here we have a 28 inch early maherajah deck with incredibly rare stroker trucks and sims pure juice competition wheels. Fausto vitello and eric swenson started thrasher magazine and ermico enterprises in the mid 1970s in san francisco. One of the first products of erimco was the stroker trucks. Designed and patented by john solimine, stroker trucks are possible one of the most complex trucks of the time. The design turned out to be too responsive for most street riders but found a nitch in downhill skating. They seldom show up on the vintage skateboard market. Just an hour north of san francisco in healdsburg ca. Was the maherajah water ski company. Since a skateboard deck is very similar to a small water ski they began to market skateboard decks in the 1970s. I was told this is one of the early boards they made, possibly a prototype. On the underside of the board the cutout areas to provide wheel clearance are unfinished indicating the deck had to be modified after production to take the stroker trucks. The overall condition is very good but there are several issues to note. The board was ridden. There is wear at the tail and some road rash on the trucks. Also the rear trucks had the springs removed sometime in the past. The front trucks still have the springs installed. The little black rubber protectors for the arms are mostly missing. The several of these that that remain are in poor shape will likely fall off the first time the board is ridden. Should be easy to replace if desired. Apologies for the relist. A helpful ebayer told me i misidentified the trucks as stoker rather than stroker trucks. The item “70s Vintage MAHERAJAH Skateboard STROKER Trucks SIMS Pure Juice Wheels No Res” is in sale since Monday, April 06, 2015.
